Yes, never place bets that obviously mark you out as a trader. If the calculator says bet £19.45 then make it £20 just like a normal mug-punter. Also make the occasional silly bet, a Saturday yankee etc, professionals don't do multiples!

Hi Ken,
Firstly I'd just like the thank you for all your advice on the website. It's really opened my mind up to things and I know there is money to be made out there. I have gotten used to the system - i am up about €1900 in a month and i'm not even doing it full time. However my profits are now not growing at the same place due to restriction that the bookies have put on - skybet, stan james and boylesports particulary. Is there any way around this? These restrictions are really affecting my profit levels. I have also found a clever calculator that helps calculate the correct lay price, it also has a nice feature if u want to over or under lay - http://www.trickybet.net/lay-calculator. I am also following this guy on Twitter - thesportsinvest0r he gives one tip a day his R.O.I after 67 bets is 227.64% - i don't like gambling but this is impressive. If you bet with 5-10% of your bank, it increases your profit quite nicely.
Any general advice greatly appreciated.
All the best,
Jonathan

Hi,

That's a very interesting method that you've outlined. I haven't had a chance to give it a go yet, but will do.

Interestingly, I found your website when looking for a website that would show me the odds from different bookies. I wrote a program that takes the odds of all runners for a race, and looks to see if there is a combination of odds that, with different stakes, would mean that I'd always get at least my stake back, and if the favourite didn't win, then I'd make money.

The maths behind it is quite complex, but once that was done, I used Betair to look at the odds available and found that only about 1 in 10 (and some days even less) of races ever had that particular set of odds that meant my method worked.

In case you're interested - the race I looked at this weekend looked like this (only 5 runners):

Name Odds My Bet Potential Winnings
Ford of Wells	85.00	£2.00	£170.00
Pagan Flight	65.00	£2.00	£130.00
Think Green	14.00	£8.00	£112.00
Tap Night	8.00	£14.00	£112.00
Priors Gold	1.31	£84.00	£110.04

My program came up with the bets. You can do it manually, but you end up using a lot of paper for scribbled notes and calculations! :-)

As you'll see, my total outlay is £110, and if the fav. wins, I get my bet back. If a longer odds horse wins, I get more back. Either way, I don't lose.

However, unlike *your* system, there are two problems. Firstly, unless a real outside wins, my return can be very low (particularly taking into account the betfair commission). Also, it looks like less than 5% of races have a set of odds that 'work' with my system. However, your suggestion of using oddschecker, means that I have access to different bookies odds, so in the example above, if I can find slightly better odds for Priors gold, then my winnings increase.

As with your system, I'm not looking to bet, but to find 'investment' without risk :-) The maths and programming were an interesting challenge, and it's all quite fun to place the bets.

So - your suggestions (things like oddschecker) might help me with my system but I can also try your system as well, as it looks a little less hit and miss that my system :-)

To run your system, I'll need some accounts, and so I'll get those by clicking on your sponsered links. And, if I do give your system a go and it works for me, then I'll also click on the donate button!

Thanks for a very well explained page - I look forward to giving it a go.

Regards

Ian
